How to warm up your email account to avoid landing in spam?
Below we show you how to warm up your email account so that it has a better reputation, improves its deliverability (or "Email Deliverability"), and so your emails always reach their recipient.
The warming up process is simple.
Start by sending emails from a new account (which does not yet have a reputation, that is, which is in a "cold" state) to a small number of people and gradually increase each day.
As you can see, the process in broad strokes is very basic. Even so, now we will see it in more depth step by step so as not to miss any important detail.
Basically, warming up your email account means gaining the trust of email service providers (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, etc.) – the main intermediary between your leads and you.
Avoid being included in blacklists and avoid being classified as spam.
Increase your delivery rate and open rates.
Prepare your account to send a high volume of messages. By gradually increasing the number of emails, you will build a better sender reputation.
Collect a list of email addresses that you know will reply to you. These can be from your friends, family, partners...
It is not necessary to send them marketing content that you have prepared for your leads. You can greet them, write a friendly personal message, or send them any content that you find interesting.
Then, ask them for a small favor: reply to your message and click on the link if there is one.
And what is this for?
By maintaining email conversations, you will be improving your reputation and credibility. Mail providers will be able to see that you are a real person having authentic interactions with real accounts.
💡 Tip: it is advisable to do the same with about 15 or 20 accounts that you already know. The longer the conversations, the better. An optimal figure would be about 10 emails exchanged (5 from you and 5 replies from the other).
In short, so that it is seen that there is some activity, that there is a real person behind that address.
Hack: Travel agencies always reply, so you can search for travel agencies and automate a cold email campaign.
This is very good practice because it helps you demonstrate to mail managers that your account is alive and working.
When you create an email account, it's not just for sending, you also have to receive something from time to time, right?
As a general rule, you can subscribe to about 10 newsletters, so you ensure you receive emails regularly.
If you have collected 10,000 contacts with Mailerfind, do not send all 10,000 emails at once because this could cause mail providers to start seeing you as a bot sending emails/spammer. Do it progressively, every 2 days, until you reach 25 emails.
Day 1 - 5 cold emails per day
Day 3 - 10 cold emails per day
Day 5 - 15 cold emails per day
Day 7 - 20 cold emails per day
Day 9 - 25 cold emails per day
This amount guarantees that you will reach the inbox of your contacts and not spam.
You can do everything we have been seeing yourself because it is simple. Even so, there are tools that automate the entire warming process for you, such as Instantly.ai, and do this work for you. You can find several with a simple Google search. Another tool we recommend and that we actually use ourselves is Smartlead. You can integrate both options with Mailerfind without any problem.
In general, you should warm it up for at least a week.
But if you are going to be sending emails to a very large number of people daily, you may need more time to achieve optimal results. A phase of between 4 and 6 weeks is recommended.
What is clear is that the more time you dedicate to increasing your reputation, the more mail managers will trust you.
When you are warming up your email account, pay close attention to how your recipients are responding. If you see that they are not very engaged, mail providers may start to make things a bit more difficult for you. If this happens, it is a good time to review the content of your email and think if it is really interesting for the recipient or if you should change something in your message. Think about it, if the first people you send to don't like it, the rest probably won't like it either. You can make small adjustments or tests to improve how recipients receive your message.
