Search for creators by keyword on Instagram
What Is It and When Should You Use It?
The Keyword analysis searches Instagram for the terms you enter and returns creators who post about those topics, based on what Instagram considers relevant for those terms.
It works differently from the other analysis modes, so it is important to understand the distinction:
- Hashtag finds people who tag their posts with that word. Anyone can use a hashtag, even if their content has nothing to do with the topic.
- Location finds people who publish content from that place.
- Keyword finds creators whom Instagram ranks for that topic. To appear in those results, an account must consistently publish content related to the topic, and that content must also perform well.
For this reason, Keyword analysis results usually consist of professionals and niche creators rather than personal accounts that used a hashtag only once.
📌 When to choose it: If you are looking for professionals in a specific industry, such as nutritionists, personal trainers, or wedding photographers, Keyword analysis will usually provide higher-quality results than Hashtag analysis.
How to Create a Keyword Analysis
- Go to Analysis → Create analysis.
- Select Instagram as the source.
- Select Keyword mode.
- Enter each term and press Enter or type a comma to add it. Each term will be converted into a tag.
- You can also paste a full list of terms separated by commas or line breaks, and they will all be converted into tags at once.
- If you are unsure which keywords to use, you can use the AI Assistant to suggest terms. The minimum is 10 keywords per generation, and 10 AI credits are charged even if you request fewer than 10. From there, you can request as many as you need.
- Review the tags and remove any you do not want, or remove them all to start over.
- Click Start.
The analysis name is generated automatically using the first keywords you entered, but you can change it at any time.
Which Keywords Work Best
- Terms that people actually search for: Use phrases containing 1 to 3 words, such as “sports nutritionist” or “wedding photographer.”
- Use the language of your target audience: If you search in English, the results will include creators who publish content in English.
- Avoid terms that are too broad or too long: A word such as “health” may return many different types of content. A very long and specific phrase is unlikely to be used exactly as written, so it may return very few results.
Important Things to Keep in Mind
- Available on Enterprise and Unlimited plans. If you have a lower-tier plan, clicking Keyword mode will display an option to upgrade your plan. This means the feature is not enabled for your current plan.
- Up to 100 keywords per analysis. Each term is searched separately. If the same creator appears for multiple terms, the results are merged into a single entry. Creators are never duplicated, and you are not charged twice for the same creator.
- The fewer keywords you use, the deeper the search for each one. An analysis with 2 terms searches each term more thoroughly than an analysis with 100 terms, so the final number of results remains relatively similar.
- Each term must contain between 2 and 50 characters. Duplicate terms are not allowed, regardless of differences in capitalization or accent marks.
- Private accounts are not saved. As with the other analysis modes, they are counted separately and do not consume credits.
- Keywords cannot be edited after the analysis has started. To change them, you must create a new analysis.
- An analysis with many keywords may take several hours. You can pause and resume it at any time without losing the progress already made.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I see Keyword mode?
This feature is available exclusively on the Enterprise and Unlimited plans. If you have another plan, clicking Keyword mode will display an option to upgrade your plan. This means the feature is not enabled for your current plan.
I am getting very few results. What should I do?
This usually happens because the term is too specific or is written in a language with very little content related to it. Try using 2 or 3 slightly broader terms, or use the AI Assistant to find keywords that are more likely to work well.
Why am I seeing creators who are unrelated to what I am looking for?
The results are ranked by Instagram’s own algorithm, not by Mailerfind. With very broad terms, it is normal to see some irrelevant results. Using more specific terms will help improve the accuracy of the results.
I entered 100 keywords and the analysis is running very slowly. Is that normal?
Yes, this is expected. Each keyword is processed as a separate search, so using 100 terms means that 100 searches are being performed sequentially. The analysis may take several hours to complete. You can pause and resume it without losing any progress.
The analysis stopped by itself. What happened?
This is usually caused by the credit limit you configured when creating the analysis, or because you have used all your monthly credits. As soon as you add more credits, the analysis will automatically resume from where it stopped.
Why did this specific account appear in my results?
The results table includes a keyword column that shows exactly which term caused that account to appear.
